Shepherd’s Place Charity is an independent, charitable organization (NGO) pioneered by Rachel Smith Theodore, as an instrument for training and reaching out to the community, the less privileged, the afflicted and to impact the world with God’s loving kindness. Setting up this charity in 1998, is a fulfilment of one of the goals of Shepherd’s Place Ministries. The charity, in line with her mission, aims to reach out to its community and beyond with support and to also encourage the acts of charity, as a part of the Christian heritage. The charity operates in the Netherlands under the name Stichting Shepherd's Place.
The charity offers support by:
■ Providing infrastructure in the rural areas and raising awareness aid to support the less privileged.
■ Running Schools, training, providing training facilities, coaching & libraries
■ Provision of courses seminars, programs conferences & training for vocational skills, for self developmental purposes, cross cultural awareness & survival kitting and, provision of a Christian Library & media production.
■ Counselling; to organizations, families, individuals, and help to victims of unfortunate events, to guide people through challenging or uncertain situations, motivational, career coaching etc.
■ Operation of Christian based social clubs across the age groups: Youth Clubs, preteen clubs (Explorer Club) to gainfully engage, mould, mentor, provide activities, training and opportunities for all and especially for the young adults who are at an impressionable stage, in order to help them transform into thoughtful, productive and responsible adults and thereby contributing to the reduction of occurrences of youthful delinquency in the society.
■ Supporting & providing opportunities for mission work: short term & long term (our own missionaries & missionfield; though we accept other missionaries & volunteers).
■ Outreach to specific establishments Providing counselling, visitation and other forms of support for orphanages, institutions, prisons, correctional facilities, day homes & temporal shelter (in process), food and other necessities, rehabilitation (in process) counselling, vocational training.
■ Benevolence, educational, health and other necessary support to the needy (less privileged) and other ministries.
■ Empowering the disadvantaged especially, women and children.
Presently, St. Shepherd’s Place sponsors and runs a school of ministry; designed to equip persons who would like to grow their faith and those who want to work in churches and other Christian organizations.
